THE COLLINS LIBRARY
college library is dedicated to the memory of Rev. Richard Collins
who was Principal of the College from 1855 to 1866. A dedicated
scholar and a wise administrator, Rev. Collins started the College
magazine-the Vidya Sangrah-at a time when no college in India
could boast of such an annual. The Collins Library has the largest
collection of books among the college libraries in the Kottayam
district. The Collins Library is also the repository of several
rare and very old books which are reference material for research
scholars. The first librarian of the Collins library, Mr. N. J.
John, was a man truly devoted to books and learning. He brought
fame to the college as a writer of short stories and poems under
the pseudonym, John O’Hind.
